This course was adapted from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Treatment Improvement Protocol (TIP) 52 Clinical Supervision and Professional Development of the Substance Abuse Counselor. This manual presents guidelines for clinical supervision in the substance use disorder treatment field. It covers supervision methods and models, cultural competence, ethical and legal issues, and performance monitoring. The manual also includes an implementation guide for program administrators.
Instructor: Margaret Glenn, EdD, CRC
Dr. Glenn is a professor of clinical rehabilitation and mental health counseling at West Virginia University and is the lead for this project. She also volunteers with the WVU Collegiate Recovery Program. She has forty years of experience in providing counseling, education, training, programming, communications campaigns, and technical assistance in the area of prevention and treatment of substance use disorders and recovery. Dr. Glenn received her doctorate in counseling from George Washington University. She is also a certified rehabilitation counselor and a certified meditation instructor with the Chopra Foundation.
